Even though we promise this every year, in the end we always fall for it and during the holidays we never manage to control ourselves.

MERIDIANI’s philosophy is to promote the art of infusion. Not only through the goodness of the products, but also through emotion. This is why we are constantly looking for ideas that are able to excite.

And this is how the POSTCARD were born 5 years ago, real letter containing our infusions. Envelopes that do not have the only purpose of wrapping a mixture, but with a witty phrase, want to give a smile to those we love or why not, even to ourselves.

This year we requested the collaboration of an illustrator, PIETRO NICOLAUCICH, to make our dedications even more precious.

It is almost spontaneous to realize that often, the small problems of life can be solved with a good mood!

How did you spend this strange summer? Did you have the opportunity to relax and maybe discover the beauty of our Italy? We hope so and for this reason we want to help you face your return in the best possible way by recommending the infusion of some precious herbs.

COLPO DI GENIO
If you need to resume studying or otherwise need to increase your attention, supplement your diet with schisandra decoctions. It is a berry of Chinese origin which, in addition to having important anti-inflammatory properties, is an excellent stimulant that improves memory. Also drink herbal teas with rosemary and oregano, both of which are perfect for improving attention. If you want to find all these herbs combined in a single herbal tea, try the COLPO DI GENIO. You will be able to do 2 + 2 even without the calculator !!

ALLA CARICA
If, on the other hand, you are looking for a general recharge of the body, we recommend guarana. It is a paste used by the Amazon Indians obtained by mixing the seeds of Paullinia Capuana, a wild climbing shrub that grows precisely in the Amazon, with cassava flour.
Guarana is famous for having a high caffeine content. This is why it is perfect as a tonic. In our ALLA CARICA blend we have associated it with hibiscus and rosehip which are just as tonic as well as perfect supplements for the body’s natural defenses.

Digestive herbal teas

The holiday are coming and with them the time of the big binge eating. Despite the good intentions, at the end of the Christmas Eve dinner or Christmas lunch we always have a full belly. But don’t give up dessert or the last slice of Pandoro, the sense of heaviness after eating can be defeated thanks to a good purifying herbal tea.

Digestive herbal teas: the benefits

A warm digestive herbal tea is an excellent remedy to counteract the heaviness and sbloating of the stomach. Taking a herbal tea can also counteract ailments such as stomach acidity, burning, belly swelling and reflux. Drinking herbal tea after meals can relieve these disorders. In addition, purifying and digestive teas usually have a good taste and are a great way to end a meal. Like all types of infusions, it is advisable not to make excessive use of these infusions and to carefully check the herbs with which they are prepared in case of breastfeeding, pregnancy or the presence of intolerances and health problems.

Digestive herbs

Purifying herbal teas are generally prepared with herbs and natural ingredients with digestive properties. Let’s see which are the most famous and the most effective. Fennel, aniseed and liquorice for example have high digestive properties. In particular its seeds of fennel that help to digestion. A good fennel herbal tea is ideal after lunch or after dinner when digestion is particularly slow. In addition to those already mentioned, the other herbs that have digestive properties are green anise, cumin, coriander, dill, mint, lemon balm, laurel and sage.

Our choice

If you don’t know which herbal tea to choose, we recommend it. One is Light & Happy herbal tea, with mint leaves, liquorice root, basil and coriander. The main ingredient takes its name to Mintha, a nymph transformed into a plant by a jealous goddess. The countless curative virtues of mint, combined with licorice, offer a sweet and aromatic herbal tea that regulates the flow of liquids by performing a purifying action. Our second choice is the herb tea Elisir di Lianf, prepared with fennel, aniseed, licorice and chicory. The unmistakable flavors of anise, licorice and fennel characterize this delicious herbal tea with prodigious effects. If consumed after meals, in fact, it gives a pleasant sensation of wellbeing, favouring digestion.

Tea and alcohol are the new frontier of Mixology, the art of mixing various drinks and ingredients to create cocktails, that combines the history of mixing to the most researched and current techniques of the cocktail world.

The tea is an ancient liqueur

The combination of tea and alcohol seems to be a new phenomenon,  but the millennial drink debuted in the history of cocktails in the 18th Century: tea is one of the main ingredient of the punch recipe, which was created by marines of the East Indian Company. Also, tea belongs to the spirit category as infusion, understood as a solution in water or alcohol of vegetables substances releasing their principles.

A new vision: the Tea-Tails

Nowadays the so-called Tea based Cocktails, abbreviated to Tea-Tails, have changed the vision of tea: they distance themselves from the traditional idea of the afternoon British tea, becoming one of the favorite ingredient of the aperitif cocktail.
The infusion of tea can be occur in water or directly in alcohol and the infusion can be used hot or it can cool down. Regarding the second main ingredient, the alcohol used has to match well with the tea: vodka is the most versatile alcohol, gin matches well with more delicate tea, while strong alcohol is a good match with black tea.

Our choice

For those who are curious and want to mix tea and alcohol at home, we recommend you two delicious blends. News Dehli Chai is a black tea with spices and a vanilla note that you can mix with some milk and rum for a slightly alcoholic hot drink. Otherwise you can mix our Mulled Wine, the classic blend of apple, orange peels and spices, with hot whine.  Alternatively, you can try our selection of grappa preparations: you can mix these tasty blends with a good spirit to get creamy and irresistible liqueurs.

Is there anything better than a hot cup of black tea in the morning to wake up with the right spirit? Compared to other types of tea, it stands out for his rich concentration of caffeine, making it a stimulating and energetic drink. But this isn’t the only benefit.

The properties

In addition to the high caffeine concentration, the black tea is also rich in antioxidant substances and astringent properties. While the first one act against the cellular ageing, the second ones can slow down the progression of a flu.

The benefits

Few people know the beneficial action of the black tea on the hair. The high quantity of caffeine turns out to be the best solution to lower the DHT level, an hormone that is able to make hair fall out. The antioxidants defend the general health of the hair, while the diverse minerals act directly at the roots.

To get a stronger, glossier and softer hair, try to rinse it with black tea infusion after washing it. Otherwise you can use it as an ingredient of your DIY hair mask.

Our choice

Meridiani Atelier selected two types of black tea. The Darjeeling is a famous Indian black tea rich in polyphenols, which have a beneficial action on the hair, making it glossier. You can choose between two types: the classic Darjeeling (also as teabags) or the BIO version.

Otherwise, we recommend Canadian Horizon: the pecans are rich in vitamin B5, so they are a good natural support to the wellness of the hair.

Why does everyone drink Matcha tea?

What’s the new trend of the year? The Matcha tea. You can find it everywhere and in every possible shape: as a simple hot tea or amalgamated to the cream of a cheesecake; you can also find it as a green cacao that you can sprinkle on the cappuccino foam. There are also Matcha cocktails: take a look at our Matcha Mint Julep.

The Matcha is quite versatile and rich in properties: it is rich in natural antioxidants, vitamins and mineral salts. The result is a detoxifying beverage with drainage-enhancing action. Thanks to the present of caffeine, the Matcha is a healthier alternative to our beloved coffee.

What do you need to prepare your Matcha?

First of all, you need a bamboo whisk. It’s the ideal tool to prepare your tea, because it allows you to melt the Matcha powder in a delicate and efficient way.

Second, the Matcha powder: our Japan Matcha is a thin green tea powder obtained from soft Gyokuro leaves, that undergo briefly to steam and they are left to dry. After removing all the stems, the leaves are smashed until they become a powder.

How to prepare your Matcha?

  1. Pour a full spoon of Matcha powder in a bowl.
  2. Add water at 80°C
  3. Wet the bamboo whisk with some water.
  4. Stir the mixture with the bamboo whisk first slowly and then with more energy, while drawing a shape similar to a W or an 8.

And your Matcha tea is ready!

The Sencha tea is the most common tea in Japan: the Japanese people drink it daily and they love it; in fact it makes up the 80% of the national production.

The tea leaves

The Sencha tea is an herbal infusion. The leaves are dark and brilliant green and it’s easy to recognize them, because they have their typical pine needles shape. The process of production causes the shape: the leaves are exposed directly to the sun and then steamed to stop the oxidation process. The interruption allows preserving the beneficial properties to the full. Once dried, they are rolled to their typical shape.

The taste

The Sencha tea colour goes from green to gold and it has a sharp taste, between refreshing and sweet. Depending on the temperature, the taste can change: if the water is mildly warm, it has a delicate tone, if the water is hot, the bitterest notes emerge.

The benefits

It is a tea rich in beneficial properties: in Japan they say a cup of (sencha) tea a day keeps the doctor away. It has a low quantity of theine and its rich in antioxidants.

Our choice

Let a teabag of Japan Sencha brew to taste the authentic flavour of the Japanese cultivations. For the sweet tooth, Oriental Emotions combines goji berries, curcuma and cherries to the Sencha tea leaves. Thanks to a cup of tea you can get closer to a such distant culture.
